Colwyn Bay Forties Festival 2016

Colwyn Bay THI was proud to support the Colwyn Bay Forties Festival for the second time running this year. The 2 day festival, now in its fifth year, attracted hundreds of visitors from near and far to enjoy the nostalgic sights and activities on offer.

‘Winston Churchill’ opened the festival alongside the mayor, Dr Sibani Roy, and ‘George Formby’ gave performances throughout both days alongside other acts. People could try out a real Anderson shelter to get a feel for what it was like during an air raid, there were many great 40s outfits to be seen and vintage items were on sale for those wanting to take a little bit of the era home with them.

Enthusiasts brought their military vehicles to be displayed, with a wide variety of models for people to look at. On Saturday evening a dance was held with traditional tunes and on Sunday the now annual battle was held, a great opportunity to see the military vehicles in action along with the reenactors. Colwyn Bay THI held an exhibition of memories of the town, and chatted to visitors about their recollections of the town’s past.
We’re thoroughly looking forward to next year’s festival. See you there!
